The sequence counts

For postal service providers, a tricky task is to make flats sequencing a profitable business. A good solution has to optimally support delivery preparation processes and – at the same time – fit into the overall sorting process. To achieve these targets, the Open Mail Handling System (OMS) was created. Its unique machine architecture with an internal sort engine and advanced sorting algorithms provides maximum freedom and opportunities in process design. About the postal market

Körber is a key player in the North American letter mail market: The United States Postal Service (USPS) has been a customer for many years. USPS has over 500,000 employees across the country, they process mail that is delivered every Monday through Saturday to 163 million addresses. And guess what: 100% of that mail is sorted and handled on our machines! Sorting and processing mail is incredibly complex! On average, there are 40 million address changes across the US each year. Our systems can detect those address changes on a recipient's mailpiece in under a second, ensuring that the address is appropriately forwarded to the new address, returned to the sender, or destroyed. When an individual or business changes their mailing address, they do so by using the system we developed. Körber owns the Intellectual Property (IP) rights to the technology to this day!
