Sustainable packaging solutions by Körber
Today pharmaceutical packaging is expected to be innovative, compact, safe, and environmentally friendly.
That’s because opinions in this area also began to change some time ago. The aim is to dispense with plastic
and replace it with biocompatible materials such as recyclable boxes, compostable sachets, and
environmentally friendly tubes. Wood, bamboo, and fungi serve as raw materials. For more than 40 years, we
at Körber have been pioneers in sustainable production chains and we have been supplying international
pharmaceutical customers with packaging that is made from 100 percent renewable paper fibers –
biodegradable, of course.
Our colleagues in

topic.
Grass-paper – environmentally friendly and stable
Grass-paper packaging offers companies in the pharmaceutical industry an interesting alternative to
packaging made of recycled paper and cardboard. Grass fibre production takes place purely mechanically
without chemical preparation, causes up to 95 percent less CO2 emissions, requires hardly any precious water
and only a little energy compared to virgin fibre pulp obtained from wood. Depending on the product, up to
30 percent of the pulp from wood can be replaced by grass fiber, with the same functionality and quality.
